The Supplemental Academic Scholarships are a group of Temple University-administrated scholarships awarded annually thanks to the generous support of donors. These are renewable scholarships of approximately $2,000-$3,000/year to provide financial support for high-achieving non-traditional Temple University undergraduate students.

Eligibility Requirements

Demonstrated academic achievement (at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA), campus or community involvement, and the persistence in achieving despite obstacles and challenges.

Non-traditional student*

Financial need (submit a FAFSA by March 1 to ensure consideration; students who submit their FAFSA after March 1 are still eligible to apply for Supplemental Academic Scholarship).

Full-time undergraduate student status.

U.S. citizenship or permanent resident.
Preference is given to students who have at least two full-time semesters remaining at Temple.
* Non-traditional students are typically defined as those who fit one or more of these categories:

Delayed entry to college by at least two years following high school, or had a break of at least two years from the start of their college career to their return,

Have dependents,
-
Are a single parent,
-
Are financially independent,
-
Have a GED
Non-traditional students who fit the above categories will have priority. We will consider applications from other students who are able to make a case for being a non-traditional student.
Application and selection process

The application includes a series of short responses and a personal statement. Applicants are encouraged to follow the guidance and tips on our sample application. (Note: By completing one common application, students are considered for the following Supplemental Academic Scholarships: duPont Scholarship, Hearst Scholarship, and Wells Fargo Scholarship. Students do not need to complete more than one application.)
