Pre-Professional Health Advising (PPHA) is an undergraduate advising office for current Temple University undergraduate students and alumni who are interested in preparing for health professional school. The advising offered by our office supplements the academic advising provided by the advising center in the student's primary college (based on their major).

We support students interested in preparing to go to professional school in any of the following areas: Medicine, Dentistry, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Podiatry Optometry, and Veterinary Medicine.

PPHA works with students as they enter Temple University in order to help them build a step-by-step, competitive profile for professional school. Our advising, workshops, mock interviews, and ePortfolio system are utilized to keep students organized in a timely way as they prepare for their eventual applications.

Step 1: Review the PPHA timelines

PPHA provides timelines for each of the nine pre-health areas listed above on our website. Each timeline provides information on what professional schools may require. It’s highly recommended that students review these timelines as an introduction to following a pre-professional health track.

Step 2: Register with PPHA

Use this link to register with PPHA. Once you are registered with PPHA, you will be given access to the PPHA It All Starts Here Canvas page.

Step 3: Complete "It All Starts Here" On Canvas

Once enrolled in the "It All Starts Here" Canvas Course, review the videos and complete quizzes for each module. After successful completion of the "It All Starts Here quizzes" you will be registered for the PPHA Canvas course where you will have access to resources to help you as a Pre-Professional student and can schedule an appointment with a PPHA advisor.

Step 4: Schedule an appointment with PPHA

After you have been added to the PPHA Canvas page, you may schedule an appointment with an advisor.  PPHA has 4 pre-health advisors to assist you with your preparation for professional school. You will schedule an appointment with the appropriate PPHA advisor based on the amount of credits you have completed.  This approach allows for students to develop a relationship among all PPHA advisors throughout your pursuit to professional school.

In addition to general appointments, we offer personal statement and mock interview appointments as well as appointments with Alumni.

• When scheduling a Personal Statement Appointment please send a copy of your final draft (to healthadvising@temple.edu) at least two days prior to your appointment meeting time.
