Generously supported by PECO, the PECO Scholars Program offers awards of approximately $3,500 to support high-achieving Temple University seniors from the five-county Philadelphia area in STEM majors.

Eligibility Requirements

Demonstrated academic achievement (at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA), campus or community involvement, and the persistence in achieving despite obstacles and challenges.

Permanent residency in one of these Philadelphia-area counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia.

Major in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biology, Biophysics, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography/Urban Studies, Information Science and Technology, Landscape Architecture, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematical Economics, Natural Science, Neuroscience - Cellular and Molecular, or Physics. Applicants should have a major in the College of Science and Technology or the College of Engineering.

Application and selection process

The application includes a series of short responses and a personal statement. Applicants are strongly encouraged to follow the guidance and tips on our sample application.

The PECO application goes live by mid- to late spring. It is posted on ScholarshipUniverse. Eligible students should see the PECO scholarship among their scholarship pool in ScholarshipUniverse.

Applications are reviewed by a committee. Applicants are notified of the outcome by mid-summer.
