University Seminar 2002, Transfer Seminar: Planning for Success

A 1-credit academic course that introduces new transfer students to the opportunities and resources at Temple University. The course is designed to assist students in their transition as well as assist in preparing them for their future career/educational plans. In addition, this seminar provides opportunities for students to work on professional planning and development. Topics include individual strengths exploration, academic majors, potential career paths, internship preparation, research opportunities, campus involvement, graduate school preparation, and career transition preparation.

• This is a one-credit elective course.
• Introduces new transfer students to the opportunities and resources at Temple University.
• Topics will include exploring individual strengths, academic majors, potential career paths, how to get an internship, research opportunities, getting involved on campus, and graduate school preparation.
• Will familiarize students with the Temple community and offices.

In this course, students will learn:

• About Temple University’s campus, community, opportunities, and resources.
• To explore and identify potential career paths.
• To identify and maximize their strengths.
• To develop an understanding of transferable skills adaptable to varying career fields.
• The process for getting internships, studying abroad, applying to graduate school, and the job search process.
