Biology major; Math minor
I started doing research in the summer after my first year under the Fox Chase Cancer Center Fellowship in Dr. Wu’s lab in the Molecular therapeutics department. I spent my summer working with Talin and Kindlin protein crystallization and co-crystallization with different compounds. After the summer, I received a permanent position at the same lab where I am continuing my research and hoping to work on a publication. Also, the same summer, I volunteered in Dr. Helmus's lab with the lanternfly project with data scrapping. The following fall, I joined Dr. Kosmider's lab, where I handled mice and collected data for ongoing research.
Research made me understand the actual value of studying science and how it can make an impact on a large scale. In addition, the time spent in the lab made me interested in pursuing an MD/Ph.D.
I started Temple as a non-traditional student with a GED. Now I am in the Honors program pursuing a biology degree. I realized Temple has a lot to offer if you have an interest or passion for science.
