Biochemistry major; Art minor
I currently do research with Dr. Sanjeevani Arora at the Fox Chase Cancer Center and Dr. Marc Ilies at Temple University Pharmacy School. With the Arora Lab, I first authored a review article that is in the process of being published on germline variants for genes involved in the DDR pathway with implications in cancer risk assessment and therapeutic application. I am currently working on a project that focuses on mutational analysis of tumors with DNA polymerase epsilon mutations. With the Ilies Lab, I am writing a paper to summarize our findings regarding the optimization of gold nanoparticle synthesis, characterization, derivatization, long-term stability assessment, and next steps regarding therapeutic implementation in drug delivery of doxorubicin to cancer cells.
I have had a lot of experience with research, and I wanted to pass the knowledge onto the next generation of student researchers and getting more students involved.
Other info about me: I switched my major from bioengineering to biochemistry. I am the first generation American. I am also an artist-- I enjoy oil painting and crafts. I also enjoy hiking. My instagram is @shmashitup.
